Portfolio: data, server, and web projects

Real projects, with the problem, the tools, and the results. More examples, including Excel model rebuilds and mapping work, are on the way.

Server status and SSL certificate monitoring app

A self-hosted web dashboard that shows the health of a set of websites and tracks when each site's SSL certificate expires, so renewals never sneak up on anyone.

Problem
Certificate expirations and site outages were easy to miss without a single place to check them.
What I built
A Python Flask application running on an AWS EC2 Amazon Linux server behind an HAProxy reverse proxy, managed as a systemd service under a dedicated service account. Site names, URLs, and certificate expiration dates live in a PostgreSQL database on AWS, and the app reads them to show what needs attention.
Tools
Python, Flask, PostgreSQL, AWS EC2, Amazon Linux, HAProxy, systemd, SQL
Results
One page shows current status and upcoming certificate expirations, replacing scattered manual checks.

Untangle Your Data website

The site you're reading, built from scratch as a fast, mobile-first business site with no page builder or framework.

Problem
Launch a professional site on shared hosting that loads quickly, ranks well, and is easy to maintain.
What I built
Hand-written HTML and CSS with fluid layouts and automatic dark mode. DNS delegated from the domain registrar to the host, a free Let's Encrypt SSL certificate, Apache rules for HTTPS redirects, compression, and browser caching, structured data on every page, a spam-resistant PHP contact form, and business email with deliverability records.
Tools
HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Apache .htaccess, DNS, Let's Encrypt, schema.org structured data
Results
Lightweight pages with no external fonts, frameworks, or tracking scripts, and a dedicated, keyword-focused page for each service.
