ArcGIS and Leaflet mapping of location data

If your data has an address, a ZIP code, or a pair of coordinates, it has a story only a map can tell.

Where are your customers clustered? Which neighborhoods are underserved? How far are deliveries really traveling? I turn location data into interactive maps and spatial analysis that answer those questions at a glance.

What you get

  • Addresses geocoded into map-ready coordinates, with match quality checked.
  • Interactive web maps built with Leaflet or ArcGIS.
  • Heat maps, shaded choropleth maps, and clustered markers for large datasets.
  • Spatial analysis: distances, drive-time areas, territories, and coverage gaps.
  • Maps embedded in your website, dashboard, or report.

Modern GIS and web mapping techniques

ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online

Esri's ArcGIS Pro handles serious desktop analysis and print-quality cartography. ArcGIS Online publishes web maps and dashboards your team can open in a browser, and the ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript powers fully custom mapping applications.

Leaflet.js for lightweight web maps

Leaflet is a small, fast, open-source JavaScript library and a great fit when you want a clean interactive map without licensing costs. With GeoJSON layers, marker clustering for thousands of points, heat map plugins, and OpenStreetMap basemaps, it covers most business mapping needs.

Vector tiles and single-file map hosting

Vector tiles draw maps in the browser rather than downloading images, so they stay sharp at any zoom and can be restyled on the fly. With MapLibre GL JS and the PMTiles format, a whole tileset can live in one file on ordinary web hosting.

Spatial SQL with PostGIS and DuckDB

Spatial databases answer questions like "which customers fall inside each sales territory?" or "what's the nearest service location to each address?" with a single query. PostGIS is the long-standing standard, and DuckDB's spatial extension brings the same power to a laptop.

Hexagonal grids with H3

ZIP codes and counties vary wildly in size, which can distort a map. The H3 hexagonal grid divides the world into equal-area cells, making it easier to compare density and coverage fairly from place to place.

Cloud-native geospatial formats

GeoParquet stores large location datasets compactly and loads quickly into analysis tools, while Turf.js performs spatial calculations right in the browser.

Common questions

Should I use ArcGIS or Leaflet?

ArcGIS is the better fit if your organization already has Esri licenses or needs advanced analysis and enterprise sharing. Leaflet is ideal for fast, free, lightweight maps on a website. I work in both and will recommend whichever suits your budget and goals.

Can you map addresses from an Excel spreadsheet?

Yes. That's one of the most common requests. I geocode the addresses, flag any that don't match cleanly, and turn the results into an interactive map.

How do you protect private location data on a web map?

By aggregating points into areas such as hexagons or ZIP codes, so no individual address is exposed, and by hosting sensitive maps privately when needed.
